As per the latest information from MacRumors, a website has been assigned for US consumers of iPhone to claim for Apple’s settlement amount. However, not just anyone can go and claim for the same, as they need to fulfill certain criteria for that. To claim the settlement amount, one needs to own an iPhone with the below-mentioned conditions.

An iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, and an iPhone SE that ran iOS 10.2.1 or later before December 21, 2017

An iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus that ran iOS 11.2 or later before December 21, 2017

Apple will be shelling out $500 million as a part of the settlement, where every customer will be getting $25 for every eligible device. The company has also claimed that if the total claims cross the amount of $500 million, then the $25 per device amount can also decrease further. The website link was to collect information about the number of claims and affected cases. The website will confirm and verify your iPhone’s serial number.

Until the final hearing that needs to be conducted on December 4, 2020, any further changes to the settlement amount or method are unlikely. However, as soon as the decision is taken, the company will distribute the amount to the customers. Apps developed for Apple are much faster and user friendly than the apps created on other platforms. It is why the number of users globally for Apple apps is much more than any other operating system. Any further details on what the application could be and how it is being developed have not been disclosed. However, it will be very curious for users to know about Apple’s app, specifically designing for Windows 10.

It is not the first application that Apple would be designing for Windows. A version of iTunes already exists on the Windows operating system, which is the only way users can access Apple music on Windows. The current version of iTunes compatible with Windows has been discontinued and has been replaced by many standalone apps such as Music, TV, Books, and Podcast. Another service that the Windows users can use is the stream from Apple TV, but for that, one needs to visit Apple’s website.

The only problem with that feature was that the user had to switch between the tabs, which seems to be removed in the new floating window feature. This feature will surely make much more sense and provide better usability of Chrome while listening to music or watching videos.

Google Bans Ads that track and monitor users without permission

Google has been questioned a lot about the ads and the regulations that allow tracking the user’s details. Ever since they have been under scrutiny for the same, the company has been very careful about their products and ads learning about the user’s whereabouts and usage behaviors to target specific ads.

As per the recent update from the tech giant, they have banned ads used to spy and track the users without their permission. Google has already banned a lot of such applications on the Google Play Store for the same reason and will continue to do so in the future.

The information was released by the company in its Ad policy update this week. The update will be implemented from August 11 and will ban any Ads and services that have been secretly tracking the users. As per Google, they would never allow any ad or app on their platform, which compensated the user’s privacy without their permission. The apps and ads can be used for surveillance by monitoring text, browsing history, and calls. The same data is used by the ads to target specific ads to the customer that they might have browsed before.

However, the policy changes do not implement the applications that have been installed by private investigation teams and parents to monitor their children. The company has also made it clear that any advertiser who cannot follow these regulations will see a suspension of the account within seven days of the warning period.

However, it raises a question on why these ads and applications were approved in the first place by Google. Despite the ban on such things, companies are still pushing such ads occasionally through the application, which would help them avoid detection. Google will possibly be taking more stringent action on such app developers and advertisers in the future.

Expect a large horsepower gap between Snapdragon and Exynos on Samsung Galaxy Note 20

The much-awaited Samsung press conference will be conducted on August 5, and everyone is waiting for a lot of new devices to be launched. Among many other devices, one of the most awaited is the Samsung Galaxy Note 20, which is said to be the most powerful note device till now.

However, as per the details that have been leaked, it is expected that Samsung will continue using its Exynos 990 chip in Galaxy Note 20. Meanwhile, other Samsung phones will be upgraded with the latest Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset, leading to a huge gap in Samsung phones’ performance.

Samsung is expected to use the Galaxy Note 20 duo model with the new Snapdragon 865 plus chipset, which will provide much better performance than the existing Exynos chip. Since the 865 plus chipset has been recently launched, the chipset’s overclocking feature makes it much more power-packed than any other existing chipset till now.

The information received from Max Weinbach does mention that there are no references to any new Exynos chipset by Samsung rather than the Snapdragon 865. Therefore, the company will be using the same Exynos 990 chip in the Galaxy S20 lineup outside of the US. The company was earlier rumored to develop and launch the new Exynos 992 chipset on the Galaxy Note 20 series. However, it is believed that the company still has a lot of research and work left to do on the development of the chipset.

With the difference in the use of chipset in the Galaxy S20 series outside the US, it is expected that the same device from other countries will suffer from a lack of performance and features as well. Unless Samsung launches a new and improved Exynos chipset, the US’s devices will be running on the Snapdragon version.

Samsung has been working on wearable tech for a long time now, as a direct competitor to the Apple watch. The Galaxy fit was an entry-level fitness tracker whose basic functioning and features. Upgrading on the same design, it is expected that Samsung will launch the Galaxy Watch 3 with premium features.

Since the last few wearable devices from Samsung like Galaxy Fit 2, Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Fit E did not perform as expected in numbers, the company has now been prepping up to unfold the all-new Galaxy watch 3, which is probably going to overcome all the limitations and lack of features in previous wearable devices.

The leaked images do show a heart rate sensor integrated at the back, but there is still no confirmation of GPS as a feature that was missing in Galaxy Fit. It is expected to be the new Galaxy Watch 3, but it can also be a new product altogether, for which we will have to wait for the Samsung event to unfold.

Apple suggests not to use Webcam covers while closing the MacBook

Apple has been issuing warnings and advisory to their iPhones and MacBook users frequently to make sure that their devices do not malfunction due to small issues. Recently, Apple has issued another advisory for MacBook users not to use webcam covers while closing it. As per the company, the webcam covers that are used on the MacBook Pro and Air models can damage the display of the device due to minimal clearance between it and the keyboard.

Also, any such damage to the machine is not covered in Apple care as well. The company suggests its users use the LED light indicator to determine whether the webcam is in use or not.

Webcam covers have been used by a lot of users to maintain privacy and make sure that it is not being used without their permission to monitor them. Due to the same reason, Apple started receiving a lot of customer complaints where the users face issues with their device display.

On further investigation, it was found that the screen issue was mostly occurring in users who were using the webcam covers. Apple says that the space between the display and the keyboard is very less and also the webcam covers interfere with the ambient light sensor, impacting the truetone effect.

The company claims that the users do not have to worry about the use of their webcam without their permission as the camera setup has been designed in a way that it cannot be triggered by activating the green led light notification. It is why Apple has issued a clear advisory not to use the webcam covers or simply remove it before closing the device. The users also have the option to control the application access to the webcam. Also, webcam covers should be no more than 0.1mm in thickness and should be without adhesive, if used.
