Apple made its intention clear last year that it will be setting up a plant in India and will also increase the production of Apple devices in India, which would include most of their products. With the same intention, the company also launched its own online store in India which received a great response. Now, Apple has started assembling iPhone 12 in India as it ramps up its production capacity in the world’s second-largest smartphone market.
Apple’s manufacturing partner Foxconn is currently assembling the iPhone 12 base model in India and the movie shows how India is emerging as a big production hub for global smartphone makers. Apart from Apple, companies like Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, and OnePlus have also been assembling their smartphones in India for many years now with increased production numbers every year. As per the statement given by India’s IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, “We are optimistic and looking forward to building a strong ecosystem across the value chain and integrating with the global value chains, thereby strengthening electronics manufacturing ecosystem in the country.”
Although Apple has only launched their online store in India, they have also been planning to open the first physical store in the country as well and it might happen this year. As per the statement from Apple, “Apple is dedicated to making the best products and services in the world to delight our customers. We are proud to be starting production of iPhone 12 in India for our local customers.”“
