Samsung to use Gorilla Glass DX and Gorilla Glass DX+ on camera lenses for smartphones

When it comes to protecting the smartphone display, companies have been using Gorilla Glass for a long time. The latest Gorilla Glass Victus is also used by many smartphone companies on their devices. It not only prevents scratches but is not easily broken as well. Samsung has been using Gorilla glass on many of their smartphones and smartwatches recently and now it seems that they will also be using it to protect the camera lenses.

In a recent event, Corning has launched two new glass panels especially for camera lenses which not only avoids any kind of scratches but also has anti-reflective properties. The new panel is Gorilla Glass DX and Gorilla Glass DX+. These panels can transmit 98% ambient light to the sensor and have excellent scratch resistance in daily use. Companies have been using Sapphire glass for the same, and Corning claims that DX+ is almost as good as Sapphire glass.

The panes would be first seen on the new Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Both of these smartphones will be launching at the Samsung event that is due on August 11. The same smartphones are also expected to have Gorilla Glass Victus for more protection. Along with the SuperAMOLED display that the company uses, the overall durability of the phone’s display is going to increase. The same panel is also expected to come in many other smartphones that are due to launch in the coming months of 2021.
