One of the most striking features of the OnePlus 9 series was the inclusion of Hasselblad camera technology in the smartphone. Due to this, the phone had a huge camera update and was also one of the best in the segment. Now OnePlus is adding more features to the camera setup with the new updates. The company has recently rolled out update version 11.2.9.9, which will be applicable for the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro. It not only adds a lot of improvements to the phone but also adds the XPan camera mode to the phone. The XPan mode is the reference to Hasselblad XPan, which is a rebranded version of the dual-format Fuji TX-1 camera that was released in the ’90s.
The XPan series will try to emulate the 65mm panoramic pictures on the smartphone. The users will be able to find this more in the mode selection screen, which brings a new UI with a 65:25 aspect ratio viewfinder and limited controls. It will allow users to use three different options here which will include a natural color mode and a black and white mode. The focal length can also be changed from 45mm to 30mm, which switches to ultra-wide mode. When you click the picture, OnePlus will add a transition of the picture being clicked in negative and then slowly developing with colors.
The only negative here is that the images will be cropped to a 4:3 sensor which will not increase the field view as it should have. The image will be saved with a resolution of 20MP and with a resolution of 7872×2916 in 45mm and 7552×2798 in 30mm mode. Also, there will be a difference of four and a half seconds before you could take another photo like this, however, you will not be able to use it in portrait orientation. The final result will look like a cropped monochrome image. The photos can also be taken in color mode, with changes in HDR processing, image sharpening, and white balancing.
