Facebook-owned Instagram has been constantly working on adding some new features to its platform to increase user engagement. Now, the platform is giving all the users access to its new ‘Guides‘ content display option, which adds a new way to share themed content on your Instagram profile. Earlier, the user had tabs in their profile such as Post, mentions, and IGTV. Now the users will be able to add a new tab to their profile in addition to these tabs.
These tabs will be able to link through to the Guides option. The Guides tab will highlight the collection of posts under the dedicated topic tiles, something very similar to what users experience on Pinterest. Now, this tab can be used to browse through various posts that are based on a specific theme. It is like a longer form of Instagram and the post will be linked with a short text description. These Guides can also be shared by the users on the Instagram profile using Stories, which makes it easier for them to promote it.
The feature was in development since May where it was being tested and was provided to selective creators to provide healthy living and health tops to deal with Covid-19. To create a Guide on Instagram one simply needs to open their Instagram account and tap on the “+” icon on the top left. From there, the user can select to create a few guides and select the type like Places, Products, or post. Now one can simply select the post and add it to the guide using title and description.
