Mediatek has announced yet another 5G enabled chipset named Dimensity 700. The chipset has been launched to take on the rival Qualcomm Snapdragon head-on. The new chipset was announced during the annual summit from Mediatek where they confirmed that the new Dimensity 700 will be focused on the low-to-mid-range smartphones over the coming 18 months. The chipset will provide faster connections to superfast data and networks.
The new Dimnesity 700 has been built on the 7nm architecture and is going to enter the market in Q1 of 2021. The chipset will be used in devices that range anywhere from $200 to $300. The chipset is an octa-core processor with two Cortex-A76 CPU cores clocked at 2.2Ghz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2GHz. It also used the Mali-G57 MCU GPU for graphics. The chipset will also bring support for FHD+ 90Hz displays at a maximum resolution of 2,520 by 1,080-pixels, up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM at up to 2,133MHZ speeds, and UFS 2.2 storage.
When it comes to the camera sensor, the chipset will support both the 48 and 64MP camera setup and will provide more value to the budget to mid-range category phones. It also supports a multitude of AI-powered features such as faux bokeh effects, noise reduction, and more. There is no confirmation on the chipset as to which smartphone will be the first one to use the chipset and it is an announcement that we could soon hear from a mobile manufacturer. For now, Mediatek is providing a different range of chipsets to fight the rival Qualcomm for market share.
