Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 has been the subject of relentless leaks, spoiling Samsung’s big Unpacked event. Fortunately for us, renowned leaker OnLeaks has released renders of the phone in partnership with Smartprix, providing us with an almost official look at the device. So, let’s delve into the design details of this highly-anticipated smartphone.
For some time now, rumors have suggested that Samsung will fix the hinge on the Galaxy Z Fold series to reduce the appearance of creases on the display. The renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 reveal the new hinge in full glory.
Sources suggest that the overall thickness of the foldable has been reduced to 13.4mm when folded, as compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which measured between 14.2mm and 15.8mm due to the hinge gap. Samsung is expected to employ a “droplet” style hinge design similar to the OPPO Find N2’s second-gen Flexion hinge.
As for the screen, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is said to feature the same 6.2-inch outer display and 7.6-inch inner screen. However, the bezels may shrink on all sides. The unfolded device is expected to measure 154.9 x 129.9 x 6.3mm, while the folded phone will measure 154.9 x 67.1 x 13.5mm.
Leakers have also noted that the triple rear camera module of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will protrude from the back, with the LED flash moving slightly to the side from the bottom.
While we wait for Samsung to officially announce the phone, previous leaks have provided insight into possible specs and a release timeline for the Galaxy Z Fold 5. For more information, check out our Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 rumor roundup.
