Ever since Samsung introduced the first foldable smartphone, the market for the same has increased by a large number. Now more and more companies have been trying to enter the foldable smartphone market with a new kind of offering where the screens could be retracted or folded. Xiaomi has been working on something very similar for a very long time and it seems that the company is going to launch a foldable smartphone by the end of the year.
A leak on the internet a few days back shows that the phone will have an under-display selfie camera, which is not common in any such phone right now. The company has already launched a foldable smartphone in China with the name Mi Mix Fold, alongside the Mi 11 Ultra. The new foldable device that is expected by the end of the year would most probably be something very similar in offering but the hinge design will be different, something which the company is already working on improving.
The leaked details do confirm that the smartphone could be coming with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, the new 108 MP primary sensor, and the 120Hz refresh rate on the display. Xiaomi has also been working on new camera technology which can be added to the foldable smartphone, leading to much better image quality. The official details are still not confirmed yet, but there is a very high chance that this year we will be able to see the new foldable smartphone offering.
