An anonymous source has leaked information suggesting that Samsung is preparing to release a new foldable tablet called the “Z Tab.” This slate may launch alongside Samsung’s traditional tablets later this year, although the leaker notes that it could also debut alongside Samsung’s other foldable devices next year if it doesn’t come out in 2023.
While Samsung is well-versed in creating non-traditional foldable devices, including the Flex Hybrid and the Flex S and Flex G concepts, it remains to be seen whether the Z Tab will use any of these designs or feature a completely different folding form factor.
The Galaxy Z Fold Tab, a foldable tablet that bends both inwards and outwards, was previously highlighted in a Samsung patent by LetsGoDigital. However, it’s unlikely that Samsung would choose such a complicated design for a folding tablet. Tipster Yogesh Brar also suggested last month that Samsung is planning to launch a tri-folding device this year, which could be a tablet, given that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 are not expected to receive significant design changes. It’s essential to take this information is no official confirmation from Samsung yet.
