A few days back, Xiaomi announced that they will be launching their next flagship Mi 11 with the Snapdragon 888 chipset. At the same time, their sub-brand Redmi made an announcement that they will also be launching a new premium flagship device, the first in their brand category next year. Now, as per the new reports, Redmi is currently working on Redmi K40 which could be the flagship phone they were talking about. It is also expected that the phone could be going official by the end of this month.
The company has already confirmed the launch of the Redmi K40 Pro in the first quarter of 2021 and is expected to be powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. Also, Redmi K40 will be launched using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 700 series chipset which will launch in early 2021. The launch schedule seems to be very similar to what Redmi followed for the K 30 series, where the Redmi K30 was launched and after a couple of months the Redmi K30 Pro was launched.
Another difference that K40 users will be able to see in the handset is the removal of the popup selfie camera which was used in the Redmi K20 and K30 series. This time, the front display will have a punch-hole cutout on the top and is expected to be an OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. With the entry of the Redmi brand in the premium flagship market, we can expect the sub-brand from Xioami to bring out some very powerful smartphones at a great value as well.
