Redmi made an announcement last year that they will be launching their new premium flagship device in the market in the year 2021 and it seems that the company is all set to do so next month. Redmi GM Lu Weibing in a Weibo post confirmed that the company will be launching the new Redmi K 40 next month with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. As per the details, there will be multiple variants in the Redmi K40 series and the top-end variant will have the SD 888 chipset only, which will be named as K40 Pro.
The company has also confirmed that the battery capacity of the smartphones will be more than 4,000mAh and the starting price of the series would be around 2,999 Yuan, which is approximately Rs 34,000 in Indian currency. The K40 series will be a direct successor to the K 30 series, where the K30 series was meant to be the mid-premium segment smartphone. The last phone announced in the K30 series was the K30 Ultra was launched with the Dimensity 1000+ chipset from Mediatek and had a 5G processor as well.
It is expected that not all the variants from the K40 series will be powered using the Qualcomm processor. It might be a possibility that the initial variants are powered using a Mediatek processor and the top variant with SD 888. The phone is also said to have the 108MP camera sensor as in Mi 11 from the company which was released on December 28, 2020. We can expect to see more details in the form of leaks in the coming days before the launch.
