OnePlus has been working on a smartwatch model for a long time and this has not been a hidden fact, as the company has been revealing a lot of details about their device development. The smartwatch was expected to launch alongside the OnePlus 8T, but the company finally made it official that the smartwatch has gone back to development and might take a while before the launch. Now, as per the latest details, the company will first be introducing a new and affordable fitness band, to begin with before they introduce the smartwatch.
The smart band is expected to launch somewhere in Q1 of 2021 and will be priced at an affordable rate of $40. The fitness band for Xiaomi is expected to have an AMOLED screen and will be water-resistant with multi-day battery life. It is also expected that OnePLus might be adopting the design of the fitness band based on what Oppo offered in June last year. Since both of them share the same manufacturing facility, it would be a lot faster and cheaper for OnePlus to adopt the same design.
If it takes the same features from Oppo smart band, then you can expect the OnePlus smart band to have a 1.1-inch screen along with 12 sports tracking modes and many other features. The only features that lack in it are the non-availability of GPS light build quality. It is expected that OnePlus would launch their smart band covering all these shortcomings. If the smart fitness band could launch at $30, then it would give serious competition to all the other products.
