After the launch of the OnePlus Nord series from the company, Carl Pei, the co-founder of OnePlus decided to leave the company last year. It has still not been clear as to why he left the company but sources state that as per him, the company has changed the path it was originally built on. At that time, it was rumored that Carl Pei is going to start a new company that is going to be the competitor to OnePlus. Now, Carl Pei has confirmed that his new company is called “Nothing.”
As per his official statement, “Nothing’s mission is to remove barriers between people and technology to create a seamless digital future.“” When it comes to the offering that the company will be provided to the customer, they have mentioned that their first smart device will launch in the first half of the year. Now Carl Pei has previously stated that the company will be audio tech-related, but it is going to be more than just headphones. He also said that the company would be offering products across various categories and they will be revealing more information about it in the future.
What he said was, “The ultimate vision of having everything connected in a seamless way, that can only happen when you have multiple categories of products that are connected, The firm plans to make most of its money from hardware rather than software subscriptions, with earlier speculation pointing to a music service.” Another thing that came to light about the company was that the European head of Nothing is David Sanmartin, who was OnePlus’s European e-commerce director as well. Carl Pei also said that they would not be re-labeling the devices or someone else’s product in the market, clearly stating the production line shared by OnePlus and Oppo.
