The feud between Apple and Fortnite seems to take a new turn and it might be for good. As recently confirmed by Epic Games, Fortnite now has Apple’s “Sign-in with Apple” option again. Apple had removed the option completely after they removed Fortnite from the App Store due to the in-app payment system and violation of the App Store rules. It also stated that the app will not be available on Fortnite and the users already having the app, will not be able to login to the game using the Apple ID.
However, after the option to Sign in using the Apple Id was available again, Epic Games confirmed that it has now got an indefinite extension. The official statement from Epic Games was “Apple will no longer allow users to sign into Fortnite using “Sign In with Apple” as soon as September 11, 2020. If you used “Sign In with Apple”, please make sure your email and password are up to date”. Although the option is now available, the company has urged its users to be prepared for the removal of the option at any time.
Apple has already mentioned that it has never denied the users on Fortnite to login using the Apple Id. However, the claim from Fortnite shows a very different side and a version for the same. Although it seems to be a positive thing for Fortnite users, it might not be a permanent solution. We will have to wait until both the companies reach a lawful decision on how to use the app on the App Store.
