iPhone 13 is the latest smartphone from Apple and a considerable upgrade from the iPhone 12 series. Although the phone has a lot of new upgrades in terms of camera, design, and more, it has recently been recognized for its display. iPhone 13 Pro Max has been awarded the best smartphone display award (A+) by DisplayMate. One of the major changes that Apple made this year to the iPhone is the use of OLED panels in the display which not only provides better quality but also uses less power.
Also, the addition of a 120Hz refresh rate in the premium models seems to have done the trick. The iPhone 13 Pro variants come with a Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion, where the refresh rate is dynamic and can change between 10Hz to 120Hz depending on the type of application being used. It not only helps to preserve power in the phone but also provides a better screen response when required.
Another achievement that iPhone 13 Pro Max was able to achieve is the maximum brightness for a smartphone with OLED panels, which is 1000 nits. However, when HDR content is played on the phone, the brightness reaches a maximum of 1200 nits. With all the awards going to Apple, we also need to mention that the displays are being provided by Samsung, who is the exclusive supplier of LTPO OLED screens for the iPhone 13 Pro Max. However, we will soon see LG as a part of their display supplier as well from next year.
